Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident
To ensure the surrogacy agreement and parental rights are legally recognized and protected in the U.S.

Good physical health & BMI not exceeding 32
A healthy body and weight reduce risks of pregnancy complications, improve embryo implantation success, and support a safer pregnancy and delivery.

No more than 2 previous C-sections
Having more than two C-sections increases the risk of complications during pregnancy and delivery, such as uterine rupture and placenta problems.

No more than 5 vaginal deliveries
Limits risks of pelvic floor damage and complications in future pregnancies, helping protect the surrogate’s health.

Ages 21–38
This range offers the best balance of physical health and emotional maturity, with higher success rates and fewer complications.

Non-smoker, no drug use, no excessive alcohol
These substances increase risks of miscarriage, birth defects, and pregnancy complications.

Given birth to at least one child with a healthy pregnancy history
Demonstrates the ability to carry a pregnancy successfully, reassuring intended parents and doctors.

Regular menstrual cycles
Indicates good reproductive health and helps coordinate treatments like embryo transfer.

No criminal record
Ensures the surrogate is reliable and legally suitable to participate in a surrogacy agreement.

Financially stable & not on government assistance
Surrogacy should be a voluntary, thoughtful decision — not driven by financial desperation.

Emotionally stable & able to commit
Emotional readiness protects the surrogate’s mental health and helps her manage the demands of the surrogacy process.

Reliable transportation
Necessary for attending medical appointments and delivery on time, even with some assistance offered.
